Ventolin is a live electronic music project by David Doubek. The live performance is its essential aspect. Ventolin plays with real harware instruments and sequencers, there is no computer involved except for the visuals. The music takes inspiration from many sides like early electronic experiments, disco, acid, techno but also pop and punk and even folk&country.
The project started accidentally in 2007 as just a fun act for one night but it quickly moved into the center of David’s focus as it really connected with his performative interests and it has been much fun too.
In 2012 Ventolin released his first LP record Totem where he started collaboration with visual artists The rodina who created a hit video Totem for the eponymous single, where Ventolin established specific audiovisual face that represents another layer of his creative output besides the energetic live shows. It was followed by the video and EP Supersonik in 2015 and collaboration with the mysterious Polish collective RSS B0YS on split LP „the game YS R0TTYN“ in 2016. By that time Ventolin played hundreds of shows mainly in Czech republic and Slovakia but also across Europe and Japan. In 2017 the breakthrough album Vitajte was released featuring the video and single Disco Science that has now more than two and half million views on Youtube. The record was more song oriented and Ventolin created live show that worked very well with audiences It all brought many new fans, two and half years of almost endless tours, self confidence but also growing feeling of alienation. The pandemic years brought more introspective and fragile record Dneska se vyčasilo as Ventolin tried to grapple with disruption that rising to fame caused to his life. The pandemic pause also brought reinvented and more energetic liveshow with which Ventolin toured intensely in Czechia, Slovakia but also Poland and the UK. In the February of 2025 Ventolin released a new record Všechno nejlepší with hits Když jedu z hub, Vyšší inteligence and Fešák, where he joined breakbeat influences with acid and trance but also rap collaborating with award winning producer and rapper MC Gey. Když jedu z hub became Ventolin’s biggest hit since Disco Science also thanks to great video by Pavel Borovička and Petr Novotný. The record Všechno nejlepší also brought new liveshow that Ventolin performed for thousands of fans with highlight performances at the Pohoda festival, Popmesse and many others.
